The average American spends about 46.7 hours a week at work so it's natural to want your home away from home to feel more, well, homey! Having a cozy workspace is a great way to reduce stress and boost productivity. When you feel at home at your desk, you'll look forward to coming in every day.
1. Buy a Plant
Invest in a low-maintenance houseplant to spruce up your workspace! There are several varieties of plants such as Aloe, a Snake Plant, or Jade that are difficult to kill for even the worst gardner. There are even plants called "air plants" that require no soil and just ask to be misted once a week! A plant is a simple way to add a little life to your desk.
2. Print Some Photos
Buy a few photo frames, print out some special photos, and you'll find yourself smiling each time you see your favorite faces. Seeing photos of loved ones will motivate you throughout the day.
3. Decorate Away
Bring in some decor to add some personality to your desk! Some examples could be personal mementoes such as a souvenir you brought back from a trip or some artwork. Plus, you'll have the added bonus of being able to share the story of each piece with your coworkers.
4. Treat Yourself
Keep a stash of your favorite snacks or drinks in a drawer to serve as a pick-me-up! Being able to brew a cup of your favorite tea to warm up or snack on your favorite candy will instantly put you in a good mood.
5. Get Comfy at your Workspace
Sitting at a desk all day can be a strain on your neck and back. Invest in a comfy seat cushion and a computer monitor stand and you'll find much of your pain relieved. Nobody wants pain to start effecting them outside of work when you're trying to enjoy time with loved ones!
